Porsche of Annapolis proudly sponsors the Annapolis Leukemia Cup Regatta

Sailing enthusiasts will gather in Annapolis for the annual Leukemia Cup Regatta this June, and for the first time in the Regatta's 18-year history, Porsche of Annapolis will be there, too.

"The team at Porsche of Annapolis is really looking forward to being involved with the Regatta this year," said Emily Burns, assistant marketing director for Porsche of Annapolis. "We know that this event is important to the community and to the Leukemia & Lymphoma Society." The Regatta is one of the largest fundraising events held each year for The Leukemia & Lymphoma Society (LLS), and regattas like the one that takes place in Annapolis are held all over the country throughout the year.

Since 1993, when the Regatta was founded in Maryland, sailors have used this event to raise money for LLS, which is a nationally recognized not-for-profit organization that supports children and adults with blood cancers. Proceeds raised from the Annapolis Regatta benefit the Maryland Chapter of LLS.
Porsche of Annapolis plans to display brand new Porsche cars at the Regatta, including the all-new 2010 Porsche Panamera.

"The Panamera is really unlike any other car on the road," Emily said. "It is so new that many people have still not seen it in person, and I still do a double take when I see one on the road. It is perfect for the sports car enthusiast who needs four seats and full-sized trunk." The Panamera was launched at the end of 2009 as the first production four-door sedan built by Porsche.

The 2010 LCR kicked off in April with an exclusive wine tasting event at the Annapolis Maritime Museum. On Friday, June 11, the Annapolis Yacht Club will host the SunTrust Bank Sailor's Launch Party at 6 p.m. The Regatta will take place Saturday, June 12, on the open waters of the Chesapeake Bay. Over 100 boats in sixteen different classes are scheduled to compete. The Regatta will close with the United Healthcare All Hands Crew Party and awards ceremony at Eastport Yacht Club at 4 p.m. Saturday.
